Tiger barb Info

Does anyone know if a school of large tiger barbs will become food for a channel cat in a well planted 55 gallon tank. I would really like to get some and thought i should ask first. My LFS is running a sale buy one get one for 1 cent and there pretty big 1.5-3 inches.
