Has anyone else tried running a skimmer on a brackish tank? What were you experiences positive or negative?

My tank is drilled and I run a canister filter that has both the suction and discharge pulling from the bottom half of the tank through stand pipes so I noticed some of the waste collecting around the water line. My SG usually runs around 1.013-1.016 which I read was on the bottom end of the end of the usable range for a skimmer but since there was waste at the top of the tank, I figured it might help. I've been running an Octo HOB-1000 skimmer for two weeks now and have seen impressive results. It pulls enough waste even with cup set pretty high for dry collection, that I have to empty it every 2-3 days. I've also noticed the yellow tint in the water is greatly reduced. My opinion is that even though skimmers are mostly seen on SW tanks, they can be a useful addition to brackish tanks. I've just never read about anyone else using one.
