How hard is it to take care of them, and how much do they cost? I heard they are REALLY hard, but why? I'm just curious, I'm not buying one.

trust me u dont want a seahorse they move 0.00001 miles per hour or even slower u be siting there watching it move like hafe a cm each hour

I think they are too much work, mostly because they will ONLY eat live brine shrimp, so you will have to have a constant supply.

Sea horses are difficult to care for on a number of reasons.

Their stomaches are only capable of digesting about 1/3 or th food they eat. Given that they eat mostly live foods (frozen is near impossible) and this is usually brineshrimp (which is almost devoid of nutrition in itself) thismeans that they need mear constant supplies of food. This can create problems with nitrates as the nutrients in the tank build up. through undeatedn and wasted food.
They also dont live naturally on reefs, they prefer lagoons and mangrovew areas where the flow is far less than a reef system. Putting them in a reef tank with lots of flow will only blow them around like leaves in the wind. They also feed extremely slowly due to them being very slow swimmers. Other fish would eat everything before they got a chance to feed.

As you can imagine this requires extremely specialist needs. They can be kept in captivity, i have seen very successful tanks with them in but they are definately not easy or a fish that can be placed in a normal reef tank :/

No, only Brackish. I would't reccommend keeping one unless you had a lot of experience caring for delicate fish and then you would have to keep it on it's own and be viligant on the water conditions and quality.

haha, amazing.. Maybe in future life I'll get one, or not.. :p

Moved from Oddballs, since I thought a seahorse isn't a very normal aquatic pet. :p
