My tank has been established for about a year and a half. 55g community tank with residents listed in my sig. A reddish brown algae (or something) has started at the back of the tank and is creeping onto my filter intakes and outflows, as well as my pennywort.

I started dosing Seachem Flourish a few weeks ago, mainly because the pennywort was looking so poorly. It has now started producing beautiful new bright green leaves with no trace of this algae.

Should I snip off the new growth and replant it, and toss the algae covered stuff? Is the algae from not having been dosing previously? My stats are right on.
