I just got six puffers the other day. I set them up in a tank. Then the next day changed from gravel to sand. Today I found a puffer wedged in the intake hose dead. I donā€™t know if he was killed getting sucked up in it or died and then got sucked up. He was moved 2-3 times within a few days maybe this just stressed him out? :(

He was a freshwater dwarf puffer. Some of them looked a bit skinny when I got them but when I pulled him out he seemed to have a belly. Iā€™m still getting to know them and I have a hard time differentiating whose who. I just put three into a different tank so I could have three in each when I noticed him. Plus two out of the six were always hiding so it was hard to tell. Now that I have them in different tanks and it will be easier. I notice that two of them have yellowish/orange underbellies. Is this normal? thanks

I'm sorry but i am no puffer expert. You might get better help at Oddballs. Could he possibly have had some internal parasites/diseases?

P.T.
