So, i've noticed the tank (140Litre) has started to go down hill abit but it was all at the same time as when my t-bars stopped eating correctly. Either way i broke the tank down and did so again but now im really stuck, plants are starting to die of, and the cichlids seem...different

My breeding pair wont breed anymore, in fact they act like they hate each other and seem to beat each other up :(

However, they do now eat proberly! but, their poo is abit odd,

There is a white mucus that surrounds it occasinaly, not all the time but alot of the time, this is in both fish, it doesnt look like a worm though, so imunsure if it is somthing else or what?

Any advice would be great! thank you!

""edit""

All states are normal Nitrates abit high mind! sitting at 30ish, water change solved this,

also the fish seem to hide alot.

Here is a picture to show it,

excuse the shabby shots!

How many fish and which type are in the tank.
What's the make of the test kit you are using.

I would worm your fish as it's best too anyway.

Signs of internal parasites are as follows.
Long stringy white poo, clear mucas poo.
Worms sticking out of the anus.
Enlarged anus, red inflamed anus.
Fish will look skinny or bloated.
Sunken in belly sometimes.
Bent spine sometimes.
Sometimes fish will swim on there sides.
Spitting food out, not eating.
Sometimes flicking and rubbing.

Any other symtoms to go on.
Like looking pale or darker in colour.
Acting listless and lethagic.

ooo sounds like they caught an infection! i doubt its what caused it but when i added some new plants this is when it all started to happen (tank was also pulled apart and put back together before it happened)

i use an api test kit (the one where you add the liquid into the water in the test tube thing)

there is 2 fish in there, the male and female, the male is about 3.5inch and the female half his size

any suggestions before i do a water change and worm them

Any signs of flicking and rubbing, laboured breathing, gasping, excess mucas, darting, erratic swimming.
Any parasites visable on the fish body, fins, gills.
Are the fish acting sluggish, look pale or darker in colour.

yes, they do look pale, flicking occasinally, they have alot of what you just listed....there is no visable signs of parasites, but my male keeps pooing alot of white thick mucus

What's your location?

I would try using wormer plus.

ok, and ive got that (how lucky) but what about any treatment for parasites?

If there no improvement with the wormer plus get back to the board.

Wormer plus covers some internal and external parasites.

does the look emaciated or bloated
in any way i would say by the colour
of the poo that it as not got an internal
parasite you said the whole tank was looking down
well i say that is were your problems lies
i would say its a water quality problem
