Yesterday evening I added 12 Nerite Snails and 2 African Dwarf Frogs to my Medium Planted Tank, 60 Gallons. Today I woke up to a mess on top of my sand lol.
I've had Nerites in the past in my 120 Gallon and loved their work, but guess I didn't realize how much they dropped since I had other fish in there and I had gravel as the substrate. It looks horrible on top of the sand.
So just had a few questions:
1) Is 12 maybe too many for a 60 Gallon, was going for about 1 per 5 Gallons.
2) If I stick with the 12 and they keep producing the way they are, I read online that its pretty good for the plants as a source of fertilizer. I use tabs in the sand and dose with liquid fertilizer. Could it be a replacement?
Or should I ignore all that and just stick with what I'm doing and keep up with the cleaning?
Thanks
