so howbig do these guys get is it a mid sized fish or a monster

monster size compared to your average sized aquarium fish ... if i remember correctly up o around 3 ft Nelly will confirm though!

yeah he's a little beast. only got him back the other day. i gave it away about a year ago. I am having trouble feeding it though. he swims around knowing the food is there but when it goes in the tank he grabs it with his mouth then leaves it  maybe he is still settling in

Im going to sort the tank out durin the week. get some nice sand in there and some plants. would like a tank mate for it so im hunting for a 12 inch Arowana. or somthing big enough so the snake dosent go for it!!!

can you do me a favour, take a nice shot side on please

i took some nice photos last night of him, just need to find my transfer cable. he is in a 5ft take at the mo. approx 450 litres. the previous owner had it on mice. im yet to go out and buy it a more nutrious treat.

how do tell the sex between male and female Nelly??

You are very helpfull when it comes to snakeheads. thanx alot mate!!

its still processeing so give it a few mins

Hi, it's 100% Marulioides.
I keep 3 myself. 2 blue specs and 1 standard.
Yours is a standard, so it can be kept with other fish with no real problems. (top level fish may cause some friction though)
He will max out at around 22-28" in length, and get very thick.

I love my Marulioides, they are beasts with a bit of heart!

Food wise, get him on market shrimp, and other bits of fish meat.
Drop your ph to below 6.4 and it's flowers will come out more. Temp at around 27c.

Not the best idea to have a dead mouse lying in the bottom of the tank.

As the others have said a good quality pellet as a staple and then a mixture of prawn, shrimp and fish will keep the snakehead in a much better condition
