One of the firebelly...a rare sighting of this extremely reclusive little creature :*)
He spends much of his time lurking in hidden places.Actually spent a few days behind the filter, coming out only at night if at all.

And here is the Taricha....a much more interactive critter. This one enjoys watching me as much as I enjoy watching him.I know..I know...newts are not supposed to be capable of experiencing such a feeling. But he does watch me closely and comes up to me whenever I am doing anything with his habitat. No doubt he associates me with meals, but he does the same whether he is hungry or not

Here is the firebelly's home after a bit of renovation.Lots of lurking places in there.I try to disturb him as little as possible as it seems to upset him -_-

And this is another view of the Taricha's (Snoopy) home.

I've tried to improve my picture quality but I'm just not getting it right :S

awesome pics koda. also i don't remember if i offered before but this summer i can send you some wild caught fire bellies for just the price of shipping.

Whoa, very cool.

I saw some the other day, could you tell me their requirements. If they would fit, i just might get them :hyper:

P.T.

i had two, but they died :-(

theres an excellent site here that really does have everything you need to know. make sure you read it in detail http://newt150.tripod.com

and whatever you do, DONT stroke them at all if possible, i think mine died of stress from being picked up (even though it was gentle)

Good luck finding them there kawan... I keep one Chinese Fire Belly Newt myself, andthis link has been very helpful... Just make sure you don't get the Japanese FB newt instead.

Koda's CFB newt just died, but these 3 threads contain a lot of info on these newts, mostly just correspondence between Koda, I and others about these newts, and also includes a lot of my personal experience in keeping mine...
