Alligator Gar:
http://www.mosportsmen.com/fishing/alligatorgar.htm

We have these here in AL rampant in our rivers and lakes....they ruin your fishing line...since they are like turtles and you are unable to get them back off your line...you just cut it.

I've seen several extremely large ones before, in the rivers near my relatives house. We thought it was a log, until we noticed it was moving up stream. We quickly got out of the water, not knowing if anymore were in the area. It' sbeen said they are non-aggressive...but, well...I'm a skeptic, what can I say lol.

(I did not take these pics BTW)

Wow, this would be enough to keep me out of the waters there..and hope not even a toe dipped in. Jeeze that's ugly looking.

Says you can keep it in an aquarium..but it looks like it would get too big to me though. I think this one's actually pretty...right up until you get to it's mouth..yikes!

Hope you enjoyed my random boredom act of the day

that first one looks like a dinosaur!

Might as well be one true gars such as the alligator gar shown have been around some 130 million years
Alligator Gars are the biggest of the gars and can reach 10 feet in length and weigh300 lbs-Anne

ive had both gars and the goliath wolf fish.
both really cool fish but had to sell the wolf fish as it could easly damage my arowana.

Ive kept or keep nearly all those fish  the only ones i havent kept are the Altolamprologus calvus and Scleropages leichardti.

That's cool CFC..you must have gargantuan tanks to hold something that can grow up to 7 feet! wowzers :fun: Can't imagine water changes on something that size lol...be like at the Local aquariums or something lol.

I want a leaf fish...the lady who works next door to me said she use to work for a pet shop not far from here that carries them..and if they don't have any, that they would order some if you wanted. I think I'm going to find myself another 20gL and put a couple in my office....I'm sure that'd definately get a few glances (if they could find them :shifty: lol). I might even just throw a 20gl together out of some scrap plexi I have around the house..I could make it short and long lol, we'll see.
