I have a planted tank and im going to need more lighting so i spoke to my mate whos a sparky and he can get me some florescent twin shop lights... would the tubes that come with the light be ok or is it a must to get a proper aquarium tube thing?

I know several people who use household tubes rather than aquarium tubes for their tanks. They reason that they are cheaper and just as good. Hope this helps. :)

I got a second hand tank from ebay, and it had standard lighting tubes in, I didn't notice it until I changed the tubes, and noticed how much brighter the light was, and how much more it showed up the fish in the tank. You may want to have a look at the light output of standard bulbs before geting them. There is a spectrum rating that I don't know about, but I'm sure someone else will be able to explain it!!

Ok thanx guys ill have a look at them when i get them on sat... :D
Thanx again!
