light platies

does anyone know whether light platies have pink or light colored gravid spots? i have 3 white platies with yellow-pink gravid spots. no pics available sorry

yea u can tell... its usually a diff color than the rest of em.. but usually its noticeable

Gravid spots are actually the eyes of the developing fry showing through the mother's skin. Its possible that your platies do not yet have fully developed fry, so you are just seeing the color they will be when they are born. I know this is the way it works with my platies - one gets an orange spot. When I shine a light through her side I can tell it's babies, but they don't have eyes yet. Then, when she is nearer to birth, you can see eyes and the gravid spot gets much darker. HTH!
