Hey all.

Just bought a blue phantom pleco, a juvenile. He does not look blue and doesn't have white spots.

At what age do they get their spots and change color? I want to make sure I didn't get ripped off.

Thanks

I don’t know the answer I’m afraid, but he is very handsome 😍
Oh, I agree. I like him but I paid a pretty penny for a blue phantom. If this isn't a blue phantom, I'd like to know what he or she is. I plan on keeping it and getting a refund for the difference.

Lovely looking fish....

As for type......not sure tbh...Blue Panaque or Blue Phantom

I have seen very young Phantoms with really standout spots and with barely there spots, but not seen one without spots. That said, I probably haven't seen enough of them to tell if this one is a Phantom or not. The Blue Panaque, on the other hand, could maybe be an alternative type if this one isn't a Phantom.

I'm leaning towards a Blue Panaque.

This is what I found when I Google “blue Panaqu Pleco juvenile”
