I have seen this remedy advocated all over the net, but have not heard of anyone here promoting it here.

From what I have read and seen it is like magic.

Agreed....and so is chemotherapy. And from what I have read, like chemotherapy it is the hope that low doses kill the cancer before it kills the patient.

Just hard to argue with all the successful testimony out there claiming it to be "safe" at proper dose levels.

It's used quite a lot in hydroponics to provide oxygen to the root zone and sterilizing equipment. It's often spot dosed there too when algae forms on wet surfaces (I used to use it for my HC Cuba growing)
Obviously, get it wrong and you'll bleach everything
As ever with algae you're better off fixing the problem than fighting a rear guard - a risky one at that.
