how old do bettas get?

my mom has been taking care of her betta for about 2 years now since she bought it. lately , it has been moving slowly and sometimes just laying at the bottom. is it possible that he's dying of old age? his 2 long fins at his butt area is really long, the longest i've seen yet. perhaps he really is getting too old

he is probably closer to 3 years old since they sell bettas at around 6 months to a year at pet stores. Bettas have been known to live anywhere from 2-5 years..so he could possibly getting slow from old age

Maybe temperature is the problem, bettas like a temp of 80F aprox.

3-5 years is the average with the age leaning closer to 3 years.
