Cichlids, Catfish and Oddballs
know there are a few tech guys here so hoping someone can help,
Basically we have recently updated our router to a newer model, older model was a thompson speedtouch and was set up on a secure private LAN with pc desktop (wired) and imac, macbook, 3 laptops, 1 notebook, 1 PS3 and 1 Nintendo Wii (wireless) and shared printing, Everything was easy to set up and worked perfectly for near 10 years albeit a bit slow,
Anyway the new router is a Huawei echolife, initially we were going to run all of the systems wirelessly (as the desktop pc is outdated and unused) PS3, Wii, notebook and one laptop work 100% fine wirelessly, the macs work at random intervals and i have resorted to using the ethernet to get my imac to work continuously. If i'm using the wireless and one of the other computers is turned one, the internet will sometimes dissapear even though the airport is still showing to be connected to the network.
Lastly two of the laptops find and connect to the wireless network but have local access only and continuously say identifying network, - The only way to connect them to the internet is to turn off all other wireless equipment, disconnect the connection on the laptop, and turn the router off and on before reconnecting the laptop to the network and even this may take 2-3 attempts before it will recognise the connection.
Should also mention all 3 laptops are Toshiba models and all run vista
