I had my 'well planted' Edge Tank in the conservatory and it got far too much natural light and all the plants got covered in a thick fur of Algae. I've now moved it into a quite dark corner inside and want to know if the plants will need to be replaced or will they recover? They all seem well rooted. I have almost no Nitrates and no Nitrites. PH is around 8.

Thick mid-green furry covering like a blanket over all leaves that won't run off betwen finger and thumb.

If you are very slow and patient you can use a sponge that fits in your hand and has a little bit of bite to it and perhaps work the algae off the leaves if they are not tiny leaves. WD

Thanks, I tried rubbing it off and it was much tougher than that. I've now trimmed off the worst leaves as unsaveable, and hope that new leaves will grow.

Increase circulation and water changes, remove as much algae is possible and then do 50% water changes every few days for a few weeks, for increasing circulation you could upgrade the pump in the filter if the unit allows or you could add a small power head, also cutting the light down to 4 hours a day will help.
