Glass Fish

Hi,

I was at my lfs on the weekend and I saw they had Glass Fish. I would like to get some, but I don't know anything about them. Do they need to be in groups? How big do they get? What size tank is advisable? Are they hardy? Will they go well with angels and rainbow fish?

you're not talking about 'painted glassfish' or 'colored glassfish' are you?

I would NEVER buy a fish that has been artificially dyed. And the lfs that I go to would never sell them. So no, I am talking about the plain transparant glass fish. They looked so beautiful swimming in the tank, and the lights reflected off them beautifully. I think dyed fish look unnatural, a look I am definatly not going for. I should have said that first off.

ive never had them but did look into it at one stage. they do need to be kept in groups of about 5 and they can get to about 15cm.

Thank you for the link. I think I will wait a while before I get some. I have the room, but I don't know about the fast current. How can I create a swift current? Would a submersible pump work?

They are also brackish fish

Hmmm....funny...I have two glass fish in FW and they are doing great. Had them for months. Happy, mid tank swimmers. Prefer flake but take dried bloodworms. SH
