Hi everyone,

I have just purchased my first tank. Its a Juwel Rio 125 with a Tetra ex700 external filter. I am opting for a fishless cycle and have read as much as possible about the best way to do this. I am in no rush to stock the tank however would just like some ideas about what fish will be suitable.

I have checked the water hardness and my results are as follows

CaC03 mg/l - 124
Ca mg/l - 50
Degree Clarke - 8.68
Degrees French - 12.40
Degrees German - 6.94

Which apparently is slightly hard. I haven't tested the ph of my water yet as Im waiting for my API master test kit to arrive. Is it best to wait for that before gathering ideas?

I am hoping for 1 or 2 centerpiece fish and then lots of smaller species to fill the tank. I have started to look at different fish that I like and am drawn to quite a few.For example I like cardinal tetras and guppies but am unsure which would be suitable for my tank. I am aware that they cannot be together due to preferring different water hardness so which would I be able to go for with the water I have? If anyone has any recommendations that would be great.

Thanks for your time in advance
Josh
