Ehiem filter help needed

was about to order a ehiem pro 2222 but now I'm not sure what I need as they sell the media separetly

also when i go to my basket with that added it says the costs is £74 instead

what should I doo?

I use a fluval 404 and have never had any problems, but the general opinion does seem to be that the eheim's are the better of the two.

no worries bought a fluval 204 instead, I couldn't see any activated carbon for the ehiem!!

thanks for that link, hadn't seen your post before I ordered, oh well buying the filter for 65 then the filter media aswell was getting silly money for my size tank!!.

You could do far worse than the 204 IMO! I've got 2 of them, and they work just fine. You dont specifically have to use Eheim media with their filters. Thats the beauty of cannisters; you can bung whatever you want in them!!!

u can get active carbon for any filter u just buy it louse and get a media bag nd pack it ur self and u only need active carbon for about 1week every month.

Will the active carbon become "deactivated" after I use it for a while?

Ah ha, oh well maybe have an ehiem on a bigger tank, I took the next fluval up anyway so I have a bit more filtration power than I need.

Just rearranged my tank with a few slabes of slate and some really course sand and it looks great, very pleased with it this time round, just need to plant it up now, have the plants ready!!

Wil ave my Fluval and co2 kit very soon then i'll finally beable to buy some fish for it soon after
