Dwarf Gouramis and African Butterfly Fish

Hi. Our tank currently houses two Cherry Barbs and a small Gold Nugget Pleco. Our plans are to add two Dwarf Gourami and an African Butterfly, assuming that a 20 gallon tank isn't cruel to the Butterfly. (There's a separate post in Oddballs about that.) Those are all of the fish this tank will see.

So, has anyone kept Gouramis and a Butterfly together? Is the Butterfly going to think "snack!" anytime the gouramis break the water? Should I get the gouramis first and give them time to "grow up"? Or is this just a combination doomed to failure?

We're trying to be responsible and go pretty slow with adding fish, so we can wait for the Butterfly if need be.

Well i doubt its recommended but my 2 african butterfly fish hang out with a powder blue dwarf gourami and 2 panchax and theres never been a fight or even a bit of nibbling. they all head butt now again but never seen any true aggression they get more trouble from my angel fish who think they are really big fish flakes!
