Hey everyone,

I've been pondering the question: Do trout eat frogs? It's an interesting inquiry that delves into the dietary habits of these aquatic predators.

While trout are known to be voracious feeders, their primary diet typically consists of insects, smaller fish, and crustaceans.

However, depending on the size of the trout and the availability of frogs in their habitat, it's not entirely implausible that they might go for a frog meal. Frogs can be quite tempting prey due to their size and movement.

Nonetheless, it would be intriguing to hear from anglers or experts who have observed or researched this behavior firsthand. What are your thoughts?

thanks in advance for any input

Trout will eat anything that fits in their mouth including frogs, tadpoles, shrimp and other freshwater crustaceans, insects and other fish.

I have used both live and artificial frogs in trout waters with mild success. Usually in later summer. If using a live frog rig it through one leg. That will encourage circular swimming,

Hello. I don't think so. Trout will eat most anything, but I don't think frogs would be living in the same water areas where there are trout. I think frogs would be a meal for fish with much larger mouths. Like, maybe Bass or a similar fish.
