Do Moonlight Leds Affect Algae Growth

I currently have two 39w T5's and an increasing stag algae problem. So in my intimate wisdom I decided to reduce the T5's to 6 hrs a day, and use the soft blue LEDs in the evening. Now I am not sure whether this will continue to contribute to my algae problem. Can anyone offer any advice
