i just got rid of diatoms in my tank now i have hair algae. how do i get rid of it?

Otos like hair algae!

They are probably the coolest Cats I've ever seen!

If that doesn't work I pull mine off with my hands!

In addition to the previous words of advice, you may want to look into reasons for algae to have developed (Dubby was alluding to this I believe).

Prevention in this case (as in most cases) is much easier than the cure. In my case, direct sunlight was (and still is) the culprit in my hair algae problem. You might also want to read about phosphates and nitrates, and see if they are present in your tapwater. HTH~

Thanks Sinistral :)

BTW, the short term solution for getting rid of hair/thread algae is to use an old toothbrush and twirl it through the algae strands. You can then easily pull it out.

Also add filter floss to your filter as this helps catch the spores and increase water changes.
