Common name/s: Ceylon Puffer, Green Puffer

Scientific name: Tetraodon fluviatilis

Origin: Southeast Asia

Maximum size: Roughly 8"

Care: Needs a tank size of at least 30 Gallons as they love wide-open swimming space. Requires Brackish water conditions within first 6-8 months of it's life. As an adult it must have full marine conditions, it is here that most Ceylon Puffer keepers fail. Although this fish is considered peaceful for a Puffer it must be kept with puffer's of similar sizes or better still, a species only tank.

Feeding: Will only eat live or frozen foods such as Ghost Shrimp, Bloodworm, Tubiflex, Mussels etc. Must be given snails regularly to keep teeth worn down.

Breeding and sexing: Sexing is near impossible because the difference between male and female ceylon's is not visible. Breeding is very rare.

Comments: A fantastic fish to keep, my best fish by far, providing you can give them the full marine conditions they need as an adult. Also, feeding can be quite expensive. Not really a beginner fish but a great Puffer for more advance keepers. Can live for well over 10 years.
