Hey after I got back from a trip to Europe I get home to find the same sounding stuff on my plats and rocks.
I cut a bit off and took it in to the Fish shop and showed them and they gave me drops for the water.
I'd recomend doing the same, just cut a leaf off and take it in to show them.
Sorry i cant remember the name of the drops at the moment.

Hope you get rid of the algea stuff :)

P.S. if you post a pic I can tell you if its the same stuff as what I had.

Hi Maisy,

Have a look at this - Algae Guide

Sounds like it could be the first one on the list (BBA), in which case you'll need to assess your tank conditions. I've had good results getting rid of it using Flourish Excel (which is a carbon supplement NOT a targeted algae killer), but it's best to try to understand what caused it to take hold in the first place, then you can manipulate the environment accordingly.

It'll be either BBA, Hair Algae, Thread Algae but most likely Staghorn Algae.

Have a look at the pictures on the link above and see which it looks like.

Thanks for all the replies ,does seem like the black brush algae,by looking at the pictures, will read articles on what to do,thanks again.
