Algae Problem

My algae is not horrific but it's definitely getting worse by the day. I only have my light on 8hrs a day at the moment and if anyting I'm underfeeding my fish. I suppose it doesnt help that I have white gravel so the algae shows really bad.
Any hints for how I can get rid of it all would be really helpful.

well what fish do you have? any plecs or RTB sharks? this is probobly gunna be needed for advice! how many plants are thereand how long was it cycled?

Tank is only 60 litres. I have a betta and 3platys at the moment. Had a RTB shark for just over a week but took him back to the supplier once I realised he was far from ideal for my tank setup!
My tank was fishlless cycled about 6 weeks ago and I have 3 small potted plants.
