Hi All

I just pulled out my UGF (what a mess that was!!) and replaced it with an AquaClear 20 in my 10 gal tank. This is probably a stupid question but do I need to use the airstone? I have 3 Betta females and 2 small Cory Cats in the tank.

Thanks so much
Sandi

i dont think battas like airstones because it cause a current.
the also go to the surface for air (i think)
not sure tho

You are right about the Bettas....

I am just not sure if the Corys need it or if the AquaClear will put enough air into the water for them.

Thanks
Sandi

As long as the filter is creating some surface disturbance, you don't need an airstone. Oxidization occurs at the surface so if you have any splash (or really just some ripples or waves) from where the water is returning to the tank, then your getting oxygen into the tank. As long as the corys aren't at the surface gasping for air, you're fine.
