Could i keep an African Butterfly Fish with Serpae Tetra?

An adult ABF could at a serpe if it wanted, so not a wise coice.

I'd be looking at Congo or Buenos Aires tetras :good:.

I'd be a lot more concerned about nippy Serpae Tetra having a field day on the ABF's trailing fins. For tankmates, think along the lines of Congo Tetra as said above (if the tank is 4-foot long, these become chunky 10cm fish); Leopard Bushfish; Upside Down Catfish etc. (fish that are generally quite sedatory and have a chilled out manner).

I heard they're mainly top dwellers and rarely come to the bottom, (the place my serpaes spend most of their time)

Serpaes would have a field day I would not reccomend it myself

My ABF is pretty tame with everything (except crickets). He definitely comes down from the surface after the lights go out, but I've housed him with a couple otos for several months with absolutely no issues. Like NOTG said, I'd be more weary of the ABF getting a bad haircut than anything else.
