Hi,

I noticed that my male ADF has taken a liking to the female in the tank. I saw them mating earlier today, at least I think I did. The male had the female around the waist. It looked like the pics I saw when I googled it earlier. But now he has her like this:

And he won't let her go. Is he hurting her? How can I make him stop? Do I need it to stop for her to be safe? He is calling her every time she gets away, so I am guessing he is feeling a little frisky. Is it normal for him to hold her like that? Or is he just inexperienced or something? Is it a sign of aggression? :dunno:

Thanks

The biggest problem this position can lead to is the female not being able to get any air and drowning, if you can remove him gently then I would, if not move them into a container that is damp but she can't drown in and hopefully he will soon let go.

your boy frog must be a rookie becasue he's going at the wrong end  maybe you should by that boy frog a magazine or instructinal video, maybe some froggy porn to teach him how to do it the right way :D

Sounds like your frog is a little overzealous. That's all right. They all get that way. Mine do, even though I've noticed they've had quite a bit of practice.

He should be gently but firmly pried off of her so that she can reach air. This might not be entirely necessary, but it's better than letting her drown.
