The biggest problem I see with typos goes along with the auto correct. Some examples I've seen can be pretty humorous. 
Re-reading does not always work either as our brains are 'trained' to read what we expect, not what is really there. Usually the human brain will read garbled text just fine as long as the first and last letters are correct. Here is a somewhat interesting article on this.
