Hello ,

I have a 16 gallon fish tank. I already have a Gold Zebra Danio and a Gold Barb.
I want to know what other fish could i possibly get. I was thinking a bottom feeder or maybe a mollie.
Please Tell your suggestions on a cool but safe tank.

Danios are a shoaling species. They tend to have higher stress levels and are more likely to suffer from illness and premature death when not kept in groups.
I'd recommend upping the numbers to more like 5.

Gold barbs are also a shoaling species and will ultimately suffer when kept alone. Also are you aware that they grow to 8cm? They are far too big for a 16gal.

Bottom feeders...Corys or Kuhli loach (but not both). Corys are shoaling so need to be kept in 4+. Kuhlis technically don't shoal but you will never see them if you don't get 4+.

Mollies can be kept alone without too much trouble. So a single molly is an ok idea.

Could i put three mollies with my two fish in there already plus the fish seem to be doing fine

I would re home the barb as they really do grow too large for that tank and up your danios to 5 then i think you could maybe add 3 mollies but they do best in brackish water (with a little aquarium salt added) as they tend to become very prone to disease without it.

When adding salt there are alot of fish that wont tolerate it, e.g. kuhli loaches and i'm pretty sure cories arn't too keen on the stuff.

An easier and smaller option to the mollies (who grow to 4inches) would be platys you could have them in your tank and bottom feeders no problem.

I suggest:

5 danios
5 cories
5 platys (1 male 4 female)

and that is a very good start as you need to bear in mind that platys are livebearers and will reproduce alot.

If you are dead set on mollies then i uggest they have a tank of their own due to the brackish water that they require.

Hope i helped :good:
