Should I use zeolite in a hospital/treatment tank to reduce ammonia? Good or bad idea? I'm not sure if zeolite just removes ammonia or if it would interfere with any medications.

Thanks for any advice!

IMO it is a great idea if you know the meds you are going to be using are lethal to bacterial colonies.

I was told that zeolite absorbs medications. Like you, I thought it would be the solution for hospital tanks as they are set up for such a short time, but apparently not.

When you set up the hospital tank use a piece of mature filter media from the main tank in the hospital tank filter.
Some aquarists have the hospital tank filter running in the main aquarium also so it is ready to use in am emergency.
A lot of ammonia binding chemicals will interfere with medications so personally I wouldn't use it.
