I really love these. Am i right in thinking they are pretty uncommon?
What are the chances of finding them in a LFS and how much are they?
I saw some on eBay not so long ago.

The zebra plec (Hypancistrus Zebra) is no longer being exported from Brazil so your right in thinking they are very rare. I did see one LFS which had had them with a price tag of £180.

They appear from time to time, but usually not in big batches unless you have a very good lfs. They prices can range from anywhere to £45-180.

They had some in Shirley Aquatics recently in the West Midlands for £110 each!! there were around 7 of them but 2 were reserved.

Gorgeous looking plecs but one heck of a price tag for something that hides most of the time :(

Having said that, they are on my WANTED list :D

i was in bradfor before xmas and there had one for £25 and i really wish i got it, but i ddint want to ship it the 2 hour car journey, so left it, and now every where i look there about £100 oh well there will just have to saty on the want list for now.

there are stunning fish though

I am trying to find some locally... or at least within a good driving distance. Was looking to buy 4 or 5 and try and get a breeding pair... If i can hopefully i can a) make some money B) help up their numbers in captivity without having to damage their natural environment.

Ben

I also saw the ones in Shirley Aquatics - was great to see them in the flesh - but what a price tag, also I understand they are only happy in groups ! - quite an expensive acquisition.
