Hi so ive got myself some zebra loaches and their really cute fish (if fish can be cute lol)
Anyway has anyone ever kept them id like to know more if poss so come on ppl share your tips
thanx scot :good:

Well if your referring to "Botia Striata"

Then yes I would agree! they are "cute" :)

They are generally a good species to have in a community aquarium as they help keep snails or any other troublesome crustacean population down. Like most other Botia sp they are gregarious so I would suggest a group of 6-8. They are one of the smaller Botia sp and only grow to 4" sometimes 5" if conditions are optimum. Obviously like all other Botia, treatments are a big no no especially ones containing copper sulphate or malachite green.

Overall a fish that mixes well with most other fish providing their companions aren't weeny or invertebrates (for obvious reasons)

ENJOY!

thanx for the info :)
will they eat mts do you know
regards scot :)

MTS are sort of hit or miss. Reports are that botia have a harder time with them than most other common snail species. MTS also spend much more time buried in the substrate where they are hard to get to. In general, botia species will decimate ramshorn, pond, nerite, and similar snails.

Botia striata are one of the most peaceful botia species IME. They're good community fish and active at night and during the day. Compared to other botia, their patterning tends to stay more consistent throughout their life. Yoyos and botia kubotai, on the other hand, have a considerable change in their color pattern as they age.
