Hi,

I recently bought 5 Zebra Danio's and the first one died within 2 hours. As for the second, it looks fairly ill, with red sores (i dont know what else to call them) under it's bellie and it swims laimly near the surface. The other 3 are fine and seem very healthy.

I also have 5 priscilla tetra's and they are 2 months old and they are also looking fine and healthy. I also had an albino corey which died about a week after purchase.

I am just wondering weather to call up the shop and have a go at them so first I need to know what is possibly wrong with the dead+dying Danio's.

All the fish where purchased from Wharf Aquatics in Pinxton. (Considered to be a good quality shop)

Cheers,
Luke.

(The second ill one has now died but the other three still look fine and healthy. Please excuse the murky water, i have bogwood in there and it releases harmless tans.)

Size of tank in gallons or lites.
How many fish and which type.
Water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.
How long did you climatise them for.

The red sore can be parasites to bacterial.
Was there red patches on the belly beneath the skin as that septicemia, hard to cure
once it has progressed as it blood poisoning.
Any signs of flicking and rubbing.

Having just read an another thread by one of your relatives, I'm betting on ammonia burns presonally. That tank was not fishless cycled, and you are doing a fish-in cycle. dissimulo was given a link to a thread "what is cycling?" by miss wiggle. Get the link off him, and you will see where you are at ATM and what you need to do. If this is septicemia as Wilder suspects, you are going to have real fun ridding the tank of it, as medicating a cycling tank is very difficult. The only med I have has success with for this particular infection (Interpet number 9) needs to be dosed on days 1 and 4, with no waterchanges between doses. Leaving a cycling tank for 4 days without a waterchange could wipe it out, so if septicemia is the problem, you are likely to be stuck in a loose-loose situation

Waterstats, particularly for ammonia, with a liquid regent based kit are desporately needed at this stage to confirm ammonia burns or something more sinister. Draw off your sample and do a 50-75% waterchange, then run your test and post back :good:

All the best
Rabbut

Ok, I will do a test. The thing that is confusing me is that the three remaining Zebra Danio's plus my 5 Pricilla Tetra's seem absolutly wonderful (They are all of my fish by the way, and just to clarify, i have a 60l tank. I think that equates to 15 gallon) But anyway, I'm just suspecting that the two fish might have been ill prier to me buying them.

Ok, i'll let you know the stats ASAP.

Cheer,
Luke.

(BTW It is me from the other post, but I am using my step bro's account :S)

Hey, havn't had much time to do the test yet but the remaining thee Zebra's are looking quite ill, i rang the fish shop up and they are checking there stock and do believe that the fishes where ill. Sorry, i said three, i have 2 left as another died monday night. (got them sunday evening).

Hoping to get a refund, check my tank and then get a different variety.

Cheers,
Luke.

You need to know your water stats.
Have you used a med yet, as you need to add anti internal bacteria med by interpet.
Once septicemia progressed it very hard to cure.
