OK two days ago I did a major cleaning, I also used a much more powerful filter for an hour just to get a lot of the crapola out of the water. But in the process one of my fish got caught on the intake valve. It was only there for about 45 seconds before I noticed and unplugged the filter. It quickly swam away and I kept an eye on it and the filter just to make sure they didn't do it again. Sometime yesterday the same fish got caught on the original filter that belonged in that tank. It is a relatively weak filter. I unplugged it and it swam away, slowly, like (pardon the metaphor) a retarded kid on meth. Last night it looked like it had recovered, but this morning he was under a decor and when I took that out of the tank, it continues to just flop around the tank. Mostly just resting on the ground. I've had the filter off all night just so it won't get caught but I can't keep it off for ever. I have 20 gallon tank as well with 6 live bearers, should I put the other 6 danios in there while this one gets better? Also what is the best way to raise the water temp? Since early this week it's gotten cold out side and the water temp has dropped from 74F to 67F. What about aquarium salt?

He could of damaged his swim bladder. Can he maintain balance.
Any fish pecking at him.
Turn heater up by two degrees.

Not really, all he does is flop around the bottom of the tank. I tried knocking some food to the bottom, but I don't think he ate anything. I am going to have to take the heater from my larger tank, I've never had a problem with temp before so there was no need for me to get a heater. None of the others are pecking at him, yet. His body as arched as it was wrapped on the intake valve.

If I need to euthanize would putting it in a cup of Bacardi 151 do the job? I'd rather not have to chop its head off or whack it against an object.

You need a heater to keep the temp stable. Unstable temp can cause stress and desease.

As for the fish its not sounding to hopeful. It down to you if you end its misery.

Jug of cold water and add ice cubes till the water freezing cold. If no ice cubes place the jug in the freezer till a thin sheet of ice appears at the surface.

Add the fish to the freezing water. It shouldn't take long for the fish to pass away. Make sure gills are no longer moving.
Leave the fish awhile to make sure its passed away.
