  • 200 litre tank
  • 2 keyholes
  • 8 clown loach
  • 2 yoyo loach
  • water stats are all fine and dandy (tested today just incase)

I got hold of 2 yoyo loach last weekend and one is constantly rubbing its sides on the sand and ornaments. It has NO signs of struggling to breath/swim/eat/poop and is pooing normally.

The only sign of something is that it is very red underneath its eyes, looks like a cut around the bottom of each eye.

What could be this?

How big are the clown loaches.
What the name of the test kit you are using.
Is there anything sharp in the tank.

Any signs of darting, erratic swimming, excess mucas, greyish film on the fish, red pin prick marks on the fish.
What do the fish gills look like.

2 inch

Local lfs

Think I'm the sharpest thing near the tank

Gills look fine and no to all the other signs.

Just the red wound like marks under the eyes

I would buy your own liquid test kits in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.
Not all lfs are to be trusted. We need to look at your water stats. As flicking can be due to bad water quality.

8 clown loaches is alot for a 200 litre. They really need to be in at least a 90 gallon tank.

I would add some melafix to the tank for now. But only half dose.

A lot even when only 2 inch long?

Maybe I didn't point out but he's been flicking and rubbing since I got him. ALL my other fish including the other yoyo loach bought at the same time are fine.

If you want to keep the clown loaches you are thinking of at least a 100 gallon tank.

Is there a greyish film on the loach.

Until we really know true water stats we would be guessing to what going off with the loach.
Water quality is the first thing to look at.

These are parasites signs to look for.
Greyish white film on the fish.
Blue, greyish film on the fish.
White grain salt spots.
Yellow spots, gold dusting, dusting of talc, rusty coloured varnish.
Get a magifying glass to see if you can see any parasites on the fish.
Any scales on the fish that look raised.
Red pin prick marks or red sores.
Excess mucas.
Red inflamed bleeding gills, or opaque gills with excess mucas.
Swimming in a jerky movement.
Weightloss.
Flicking and rubbing, darting, erratic swimming.
Laboured breathing or gasping.
Peeling, or shedding skin.
