hey.
I have.. 30 guppy fry. like just born last week?
or nearly a week ago.. and i also have 4 baby plattys.
i wouldnt put them as 'fry' because they are bigger,
about 1.5cm. around that.
i`m just wondering.. when would i be able to put my new guppy fry in with the 4 baby plattys?
because right now i have them all in a tank together, but the 30 guppy fry are in a breeding trap without the dividers right now, so they have it all to theirselfs and i have another breeding trap with a pregnant guppy in there
then i have the 4 baby plattys just swimming around in that tank.. not in a breeding trap.
im just wondering when can i put the guppy fry in with the plattys.. about 1.5cm.. or something around that.
i tested one guppy fry with the baby plattys
when they saw the fry.. they just chased it a bit (not much though) but the fry just swims away.
any opinions?
thanks.

Could you get some plants for the guppy fry to hide behind?

As you said, the platies chase but the fry swims away, so it would be even better if they could swim away into plants to hide in.

Or, you could feed the guppy fry 2-3 times a day (as is usualy for healthy fry) and feed the platies somewhat less (but still not too much less) so that the guppies would grow faster than the platies. IMO this sounds kinda cruel to the platies, but I mean.. if you really want the guppies..

I think you should contemplate releasing them, you may lose some, but i don't think that 4 juvie platies would have a big enough appetite to do much damage before you can notice and do something about it.

:D

hmm.
what about feeding the fry 2 times a day. and the plattys once?
lmao!
i might be tempted to give the plattys the food too. ooh! it's too hard. lmaoo
i might leave the guppys in the for a bit longer.
the thing is.. i need that breeding trap that the fry are in to use for another pregnant guppy.
lmao
because i had the dividers in there. but it wasnt in properly and the fry got into the main part. and i was just about to put a guppy in there :S
hmm

tbh the platy fry seem pretty small still even at 1 cm thwy probably wouldnt bother much after the first initial meeting in the tank so id say they probably would be fine 2 gether ive added fry that are 2 cm with pretty much newborn with no fatalities abit of chasing initially but they seemed fine 2 gether so i say go for it :)
