ive purchesed my new tank, a rio 125. im transfering my current ocupents from the Rekord 60 into the rio 125

i currently have

2 german blue rams
13 neon tetras

im doing a tank clone so no need to worry about cycling although i will have buckets ready.

after ive transfered the fish from the Rekord to the rio i thought an angel or 2 would be a nice addition. (i know its not recommended that angels and neons are mixed but i have a friend that breeds angels and im getting 2 jet black juvis from him(1") if they will be ok with the rams?)

what are your thoughts on the angels and the rams being mixed? i see no problems but both are cichlids which are of an aggressive nature

might as well try i out if your neons disapear though.. how bigt are these angels ?

its not the neons im worried about its the rams and the aggresion, but to answer your question the angels will be about 1-1.5 inches

iv always heard stories of rams and angels living peacfully together if they are the same size as your rams then dont see why they would have any aggression could give it a try

... its not recommended that angels and neons are mixed . . .

In My Tank Ive Got 2 Angel And 6 Neons
The Angels It Look Like Theyv Claimed A Part Of The Tank

And When Any Fish Goe Near It, It Chases Them
But When It Trys To Chase The Neons They Cant Catch Them

my 3 angels are about 2inch (body size) and the rams afaik are about fully grown and never had any issues , Rams seems to stay nearer the bottom while the angels stay near the top . I brought 10neon tetra's and theyre all still there after a week, The angels may eat them when they get bigger but for now the angels are growing fairly slowly.

The angels you would be introducing are about 1.5" you say? Younger and smaller. This might work nicely for you as the angels might refrain from being as aggressive as they would be when larger. But beware when they grow and become more territorial and aggressive. Suggestion would be to ensure ample spaces of refuge. Lots of plants and caves and hiding spots for both parties. My Angels enjoy the upper parts of the tank and only during feeding do they begin to nip, never too bad but the other fish in the tank knows who is boss.

Good luck and keep us posted! :D

I introduced a couple of small Angels (1.5") to my community tank which had a couple of rams and neons and a other tetra's. Everyone gets on fine, although sadly last week lost one of the rams and one of the Angels (Internal Parasites). So now have 1 Angel and 1 Ram, they only time there seems any trouble is when they fight over an algae wafer, but they take it in turns, the Ram at the moment is the boss.

Should be fine if the Angels are introduced at a young age and the mature with Neons in the tank than there is a big chance that they wont touch the Neons. They may still eat the Neons once matured but the chances are they wont!

i think they'll be fine as long as there around the same size
and if it works tell me im intrested in what occurs.
