i just got a 30 gal and am heating it right now. i am not sure how to develop the surroundings or what fish i should put in it. I was hoping to get some feed back and then make a decision, so all of your inputs would be appreciated

Have you kept fishies before? If not, the ones that I started out with were Zebra Danios and guppies. I tried keeping fancier fish at first but i learned my lesson really quickly. Danios and guppies are really nice fish to have, i missed my danios a lot when i gave them away :byebye: , and they're also (in my experience) pretty resilient.
good luck!

have you read the pined articles on cycling your tank?
you need to know this first before stocking it.

cute lil danio pic.....and yes hes right, danios are schoolers....and they're really cute to watch....i always thought they seemed like a bunch of little trouble makers hhehehe.......and thats why i dont have them anymore cuz i have a small tank now and they do need the space.....i miss them! definatly do a lot of research before starting to put fish inyour tank. this forum is the best one around for that, i only know it from experience!

oh haha woopsee  boy is my face red!! :p

well yah then danios are fun in a school....so simple and cheap but i honestly really liked them once i got used to them....if that makes any sense!! hehe

i recently had this idea, i was thinking about putting pipes around the bottom, but i want the pipes to lead places, and i want to cover up the pipes with rocks or sand and just leave the openings at the surface of the gravel. I was also thinking maybe bisecting the pipes and laying them on the glass so i could look in

check out my website for lots of different danios also you may want to look into microrasboras too.

Well, what are in your other tanks, so we can leave out suggesting more of the same fish you already have, and what kind of fish interest you?

So you want more cichlids? :p

If you want to do something with pipes, I reccomend you try khulie loaches. I like the 'disected-pipe-against-glass' idea :p And just look at this and tell me you can resist : http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?showtopic=51494

You could inclue some rams, maybe a keyhole and a few gouramies, black phantom tetras, harlequin rasboras, whatever you want realy (within reason). Plus a school of zebra danios ;)
