Since theres a lot of pathetic tanks on Ebay, I thought I'd write a topic about the best way to go about complaining. This can be aplied to individual sellers or large ones like Walmart. Soooo...

1. Don't be rude
You won't get anywhere with an email such as
'You make me sick you evil person.'.
Try something like
'I feel your tanks are an inappropriate size.'

2. Tell them the facts
This will kind of be covered later, but in your email (if, say, about tank size), say
'Bettas do not live in puddles'
Then elaborate a bit. My favourite is
'Bettas live in rice paddies, not puddles. Rice paddies are huge since the Thai's eat a lot of rice'.

3. Back them into a corner
As above, in most replies you will get something along the lines of
'Bettas live in dirty little puddles in the wild, this is much bigger'
In your email, write something like in number 2 so they cannot use this arguement. This applies to a lot of things. If you leave no room for false excuses, they will have to reply with the truth.

4. Reccomend improvements
Especially with big companies, the most important thing is money. So if you offer an improvement (eg, relabelling 1 gallon 'goldfish tanks' as betta tanks'), you will kill two birds with one stone. It helps the goldfish, but also bettas.

5. Don't hesitate to reply
If someone tells you something you are not happy with, like
Fancy goldfish can grow to 9cm (I've had this sent to me by a large company)
Reply and tell them they are wrong. Again, explain, and hopefully they will reply with a better answer.

6. Relate to personal experiences
If you have seen a betta in a tank like that before and noted how unhappy it is or similar, tell them. They cannot tell you you are lying, if they tell you
I have lots of this tank and the bettas are very happy
Ask how they know, and if they are calling you a liar. Sure, you can't know exactly, but a betta that can only lay on the bottom in large ammounts of ammonia can't be very happy can it?

If anyone can think of anything else, feel free to add it.
Whew, that was long was'nt it :)

thorough posts are usually long... and always appreciuated...

Thanks!
