I have two smallish tanks a 65 litre and a 80 litre. There are a diversity of fish in both. But when people talk about stocking and choosing fish they always talk about harmonisation in the tank, size, waste levels, suitability to water conditions etc.
Anyone got any recommendations on fish that are more interesting?
My cardinal tetras are boring they just eat, pooh and school. They don't interact or explore....
However in my other tank I have some gourami's that drift about and are relaxing to watch as well as four rams that seem to have their own mischevious little personalities.
I have a couple of killifish (ghardeneri's - hard to spell) that are beautiful but are still hiding away.
Any suggestions on smaller, interesting or beautiful fish and reasons would be appreciated.

If pestering for food counts as being interesting, then the livebearers are right up there. They spend all the time bumbling about the tank, poking their noses in anything there is to be seen, hoping that it will prove succulent, and they do very definitely interact.

Corydoras are great fun to watch, once they have got over being shy (you really do need to keep them in schools for this). Cory sex is particularly endearing as they nuzzle each other with their whiskers and get very excited, but always gentle.

Black phantom tetras scuffle and display to the females a lot.

But my favourite is probably the bristlenose plec. A bit messy for a 65 ltr tank, but lovely fish.

right now, Ill say my green barbs, they are active, curious and gentle creatures
