after the fiasco with the heater getting unplugged, before I introduced the tiger limia, I want to replace 2 of my heaters, that don't display the tank temperatures... the 2 I want to replace, just heat to a range, and have 1 tiny LED light, to indicate if the heater is heating... the last ones I bought for the small tanks were these Hygger units, and I like them a lot... what is your favorite small tank heater???

This is worth looking at seriously, as the smaller the tank, the more dangerous the heater. The question doesn't affect me as I don't heat small tanks, but I think it's a good one for people here in general. I've made myself a warm room, super insulated room for the fishtanks. But before I did that, wonky heaters were a major hazard to small fish at my place.

I use thermometres to know temperatures, which gets me around the display issue neatly. Ones with good sized digital displays will tell you what's up at a glance, and they cost much less and last much longer than many heaters. I don't think we need them built in.

In my 10 and 20 gallon tanks I found that the smaller m series of fluval heaters have worked well for me, I mount them horizontally near the bottom of the tank, just above the substrate. I find the m series more reliable than the full on electronic ones.

Second the Fluval M series, I got one for a 10 gallon running for three years, flawless and temp once set is spot on to my glass thermometer… And prices are nice. They work..
