the titile says it all.
she is a small 2.5 gallon tank with a heater, she lives with a small mystery snail.
the water has been clean except the filter has been loaded with alge i have been told repeatly that i should leave it alone, but today she had a white string poo. i am worried about the little one its my second betta from petsmart the first died of dropsy and i am worried about that will turn up in this little one.
i have internal parsite meds. i need to know if this if i should treat. her tail did split a few days ago too.

Can you post your water stats please in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.
Long stringy white poo can be constipation, bacterial infection, to internal parasites.
What do you feed your fish?
Is the betta bloated.
Cook some frozen peas for a few minutes, let cool down and pop out of shell. Mush between fingers into small peices and add to the tank.

I had a female betta with string poop once before too. I used Fungus clear by jungle it works on treating Fungus AND Bacterial infections. It worked for my girl one treatment was all she needed and she has not had any sting white poops since then.

Since your tank is so small it might be hard to treat seeing the the Fungus clear comes in these hard disks that treat 10 Gal.

Normal White string poop is due to a bacterial infection. So find a treatment that will fight off bacterial infections.

Good luck. Don't forget clean fresh water can be life saving for fish. It helps them heal faster and stay stress free.

Don't add the med till you know what you are treating for it could just be constipation.
Can you answer some of the questions I asked.

Signs of internal parasites are.
Long stringy white poo or clear mucas poo.
Enlarged anus or red inflamed anus.
Being skinny or bloated.
Sunken in belly.
Bent spine sometimes.
Sometimes fish will swim on there sides.
