the tank is 18 1/2 inches from the widest point and 20 3/4 inches tall

It's a verry cool shape - modern, small but big enough. Any stocking ideas?

Angels! It's a tall tank, will allow their fins to develop. Don't know how many yet, will go do the gallons to liters maths in a minute.. Add a shoal of something peaceful, like coral barbs maybe, and you're all set.

Why not go planted?, have black sand and buy a nice sized piece of wood thats quite tall, and have moss growing up it  then for stocking have a shoal of cardinal tetras and maybe 2 male and 1 female guppy :good:

Thats what i would consider

I'd suggest a pair of angels to grow properly, or maybe 3-4 of the same sex. Get some tall plants in there with them (they like to breed on leaves) and a shoal of barbs and maybe a small cory shoal too, or possibly loaches. Not too many though, considering the size of the tank floor. One gold ancistrus to keep the glass clean and you should be all set!
This is all according to my taste, of course, but maybe it'll be yours too?

That would be too overstocked

Did I do the galllons to liters calculations wrong?

If it's over 100 liters I think it could handle a pair of angels if it's that tall. Maybe no more than two kuhli loaches rather than the cories, but a small shoal of gold or coral barbs should be ok. I'm sort of using my tall 180 liter tank as a reference, though it's a little more square. I've kept a pair of angels in it along with three curviceps and lots of plants. And steadily decreasing cardinal tetras which is why I'm not suggesting them along with angels.

Oh, by the way, being female myself I feel the pain of one female guppy with two males. With guppies, and male guppy libido, I'd say two females to one male is a minimum. I normally get three females to one male.

Still, guppies are lovely fish, so I'm not knocking the idea, just the proportions!

i dunno, i dont think its long enough for angels. its only 18.5 inches wide, and cories are out, the footprint is not big enough enless i get pigmy cories (very rare in my area), planted, its hard becuase i have to make a custom lighting unit, it probably wont have enough wpg for the tank (i dont even know if they make 12 inch T8 bulbs, i know they make 18 inch bulbs. ill have to go to the lfs and see what they have, for lighting. i am tight on money right now so i cant do much (cant get a job becuase of school.) i also have to reseal the tank.

as for fish, if i was going to get guppys they would be all male, i dont want "bunch o' babies" in my tank, right now im look at my options, i may just get a freally tall branch going up to the top and cover that in moss, then have moss on the substrate with some vallis oin the back with a tiger lotus and have some tetras and gouramis but im not sure

thanks for all the comments
keep your ideas for stock and for the look of the tank comming i really enjoy reading what youguys have to say

thanks
alex

i have the exact same tank but i only use it to house angel fry. other than that, i keep it in the store.

Cool looking tank. :good:

Personally, I think a nano type setup would look cool in there. I like the idea of a really branchy piece of driftwood with java moss growing on it, along with the other plants you suggested. For stocking stick with fish that stay 1.5" or smaller. You could have a couple of good sized shoals, and if done right, you'd have the illusion of a much larger tank.

That looks nice. I think guppy man's idea sounds good - let some plants grow up because the tank is tall, and get a shoal of cardinals or neons :good:

It's always nice getting a free tank lol.
