added my first fish lol

im soooooooooooooo exited

i have :
2 x guppie's : del and rodney
2 x gourami : bonny and clyde
3 x platties : nemo , marlon and dory hehehe ( my little girl chose the names )

did have a plec but only lived a few hours :(

what are your water readings. ie NitrIte, Ammonia, PH, KH, GH??

has the tank "Cycled"?

the reason i ask is plecs are pretty hardy fish and will only die so quickly if somethings not right.

i have 2 plecs which were the first in the tank and are the only original survivors of various disasters i have had whilst finding my way.

Plecs are more sensitive to water conditions than the other fish you have listed. My guess is that the tank wasnt fully cycled if the plec died so quickly.

Or, you just added too many fish at once for your new tank, the bacteria overloaded and you got a Nitrate spike, which may have killed the plec.

:( Ive lost 2 plecs for seemingly no reason at all since i started my tank last oct. The 3rd one in it now is doing really well and have had him since xmas. :D

oh. didn't realise plecs were sensitive. i've had 3 Dwarf Gouramis, never lasted more than 2 months and guppies get replaced after 3 months. obviously the tank involved has a few "issues" to deal with but the common plec's been in throuout.

very odd..

I lost 2 plecos in my tank too

the first one, a rubbernose, died after a few days and i think it is because of pH fluctuation. I didn't acclimate him slowly enough

the other, a gold pleco, I had for 2 weeks. He died a few minutes after i took a pic of him. One second he was fine, the next he was stiff as rock...

I might be getting just a common pleco for my 50 gallon now
