Just a quick one, until adding an extra light my CO2 was stable, but since adding the extra light the PH level has risen virtually from one day to the next.
The rise is not excessive but it effectively lowers my CO2 to about 18-20 and I need it higher than that.

My question is: does adding more light mean that the plants use more CO2 and effectively lower the levels in the tank? I cannot think of any other explanation as I use injected CO2 and the bubble count had not changed at all (needless to say I have now upped the level to compensate).

One to ponder!

Yeah what anvil said. The new light is causing the removal of more CO2 from the water, which means removing an acidic substance, causing the PH to rise. You may want to increase your CO2 bubbles as a result.
