Hello All. I am 6 months fresh to tropicals. I have an aqua one 620t. recently after my last water change, the water is turning a yellowish colour. it is certianly not clean and clear as it comes out of the tap. i have all my water parameters within the normal limits,26degrees celcius(Australian BTW) run at 7.0ph, fully cycled, ammonia at 0ppm, nitrite 0ppm and nitrate between 5 to 10ppm at this last water test. i also do a weekly 25% water change. the only change to the tank is that i have added a peice of drift wood which i soaked in a bucket and changed the water (aquarium water) every two days for 7 days. Was that long enough? i know that some tank owners want the yellowish water, but i have dwarf gouramis, and their colours just arent as vibrant through yellow water as through clean and clear. the tank is not heavily planted at this stage, that was my next step. All tank inhabitants are happy and healthy with no change in behaviour, eating lovely twice a day on flake, twice a week on bloodworm, and every other day with an algae wafer. is this a bloom of some kind? As this does not seem to be affecting my beautiful fish, this is purely an aesthetics deal here. please guide me o wise ones. i need some experienced advice. many thanks! (tried to upload pic, stupid computer didn't want to play ball.)

It's just the tannins from the driftwood, which can take months to disappear completely. I kind of like the slight yellow tinge I get with mine as it looks more natural, but it will disappear in time.

To upload pics, I believe you need to have several more posts under your belt. They're very careful about what newbies post for a bit. But the best way to post your photos is to use a service such as photobucket.com, where you load the photos onto their site (it's free) and then copy the direct link and past it here with the image button.

Welcome to the forum!
