I added some dwarf sag on friday to my tank that I am cycling (fishless).

The leaves are going yellow already.

The lighting is a old 10w 12in T8 of unknown make. I am going to add a 14w 15in T8 Interpet - Triplus this week and add a co2 diffuser (nutrafin). Also thinking of add Seachem Flourish. Is there anything else I could do?

Hi there, all i can say is just make sure the lighting you choose is for growing plants, have you looked at the arcadia t5 plant pros? also try to go for about 2 to 3 watts per gal you should be able to grow most plants with that wattage and stable co2 and the correct ferts, have you read the pinned articles on lighting and ferts? regards john

Hi John,

Unfortunately I'm on a limited budget so I'm stuck with using the 14-15w ballast that came with the tank and another that I have been given. I have bought a new bulb, an Interpet - Triplus at 14w. Its on the recommended list in the Lighting article. That should bring me up to 24w. 28w is the maximum I can realistically have with the equipment I have.

Hi the lighting you have for the size of your tank should be okay for plants like java moss, anubias, and so on but these plants are slow growers, the reason your leaves are turning yellow is probably due to lack of nutrients. have a look at the pinned thread on ei (estamative index) regards john. ps: take a look at the tropica web site.

That is a Emerged Dwarf sagg, So yellowing leaves may happen when it it turning submerged, Usually the Emerged plant dies. and Regrows Submerged
